Duh

I can't figure out how to put the Haloscan comments code in the new template. The old Haloscan code is HTML and the new Blogger Beta code is XML. I'm not sure if they'll play nice, so for now I'll just use the built-in Blogger commenting system. But I want the Haloscan comments back; I've got four years of bizarre dialog on that.

I tried that XML template for a grand total of 25 seconds before running screaming back to my dodgy old HTML template.

It's neato, but a bit annoying also.

I downloaded my template from some crummy website then had to go MacGyver the HTML to get it looking the way I wanted it. I doubt if I could make the XML look like the old blog.

Or I'm just too damn lazy to go look & see if I could.

I'm not overly fond of your current template. I liked the one you had a few months ago. Blogger's selection of templates isn't anything to write home about either.

I still haven't dared migrate over to Blogger beta, and am dreading the day they force it on me.

Meanwhile, does any of this help?

Hi, DG. I was reading that same material at the Haloscan forum last night. It seems a bit Rube Goldberg at this point, so I'm going to wait for an official fix (if they ever get one).

I'm with the geezer, all trepidatious about being made to switch.

Meanwhile, it's very, ummm, white Christmas around here.

Yeah, I gotsta do that, too -- fix Haloscan and all. I don't particularly like Blogger comments. Too much work.

The problem is, once you switch, you cannot USE the old Blogger. That means for the group blogs I'm on, you switch or you don't get to participate...

We're all screwed!

I've come to that conclusion.

At least I can go to Haloscan and archive the comments.

Oh, and Sitemeter works, and Blogrolling has already set up code for Blogger Beta. Seems to be working, too.

I don't like the available templates much (I liked my triple column one because *I* used it) but I'm making due, mostly because I'm too lazy to go back to the old fashioned way.

I've gotten all the important stuff working with the exception of Haloscan, and I haven't given up on that yet. I don't have my clock up yet, my favicon, or my NaNoWriMo winner thingy, but I might put those up in the next day or two.
